is one of the basic necessities of your child. But buying shoes for children is not a simple task because the wide array of choices and your kid’s impatience to try on different shoes make it all the more overwhelming.
Here are some tips to make shopping for children’s shoes less of nightmare and more of an enjoyable shopping endeavour:
- Shop for shoes later in the afternoon or evening because this is the time when the feet are more swollen.
- Look for a store that specializes in children’s footwear because they have a staff that are more patient and more well-versed in dealing with a squirming little kid. They will be able to give you better information regarding shoes and what is the right pair for your kid.
- Know what pair you’re looking for. Are you going to buy tennis shoes, sandals or kid’s cowboy boots? This will save you time and energy in looking for shoes.
- Bring toys for your kid or some healthy snack to munch on during shoe shopping so that your kid doesn’t easily get bored in your search for the best pair for him.
- Make sure that your kid fits the shoes to try them on for comfort. Kids will not last a long time with shoes that squishes their little toes. The length is not only the consideration but also the width and the weight of the shoes. Heavy or narrow shoes will also be pretty uncomfortable for your little one.
- Don’t overspend on kid’s shoes because at the rate of how fast a kid’s feet grows, it’s not wise to buy shoes that are too expensive.
- Add one half inch to your kid’s feet size and that’s the size of the shoes you should buy to give room for growth or for thick socks.
- And even though you’re tempted to buy big shoes for your kid because he’s growing up very fast, that is not a good idea because shoes that are too big may cause balance and foot problems for your child.
- Avoid buying shoes with heels but if you should ever need to buy a pair with heels, choose one that have snug fitting heels. Too tight heels cause discomfort, too loose may cause balance problems.
- Look for shoes that are made of breathable materials like leather. Shoes made of leather like boy’s cowboy boots are sturdier and will keep your kid’s feet always cool and dry.
- Make sure you opt for shoes with non-slippery soles those that have patterns or texture will provide traction and help avoid your kid from slipping.
- If you don’t have time or your kid really hates manual shoe-shopping, you can do it online. Be sure to opt for a reputable kid’s shoe dealers which has high quality boots for kids.
